Another notable name just hit the NCAA transfer portal: Jermarquis Whitfield, one of UAPB’s most experienced and productive cornerbacks, has officially entered the portal with two years of eligibility left.

Whitfield spent three seasons with the Golden Lions and became a key piece of their secondary — strong press coverage, reliable tackling, good recovery speed, and one of the few stabilizing veterans on a defense that’s been up and down the past few years.

For UAPB, his departure is a legit blow. Losing a starting-caliber corner affects more than the secondary — it impacts the entire defensive scheme, blitz packages, and how aggressive the front can be without a veteran DB behind them.

He’s the kind of player who could easily get looks from G5 schools or strong FCS playoff contenders looking for immediate help in the secondary.
