He featured from the start against Athletic Club on Wednesday night – contributing a fine assist for Kylian Mbappe – but disaster has struck again. He did not even last an hour of the clash at San Memes – being replaced early in the second half by Raul Asencio.

Madrid reporter Aranche Rodriguez has confirmed that Trent has suffered more injury woe – this time a quadriceps problem that is expected to sideline him for up to two months.

It’s clear the move isn’t working out for Trent – who has also lost his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England setup.
