Kristin Cavallari on kids having cellphones, ‘I honestly don’t agree’

Kristin Cavallari is getting candid about parenting challenges and family struggles.

The Laguna Beach alum, 38, opened up on her podcast Let’s Be Honest about how she feels uneasy with her kids having cellphones.

Cavallari, who shares sons Camden, 13, and Jaxon, 11, along with daughter Saylor, 9, with ex-husband Jay Cutler, admitted mornings can be tough when her kids are glued to their screens.

“I honestly don’t agree with my younger two getting phones,” she said, explaining that she originally wanted her kids to wait until age 12, as she did with Camden.

While she knows she can always take their phones away, she pointed out that she “didn’t buy Jaxon or Saylor their phones,” which makes the situation a little more complicated.

Still, she added that she focuses on what she can control, including parental restrictions.

The former reality star also shared a more personal story about cutting ties with her father, Dennis. Speaking on Harry Jowsey’s Boyfriend Material podcast, Cavallari revealed she made the difficult decision to step away from him after an incident involving one of her children.

“He traumatized my kids. And I have no room for that in my life, and so that was it,” she said. She described their relationship as rocky over the years and explained that what hurt her most was his lack of accountability.

“That’s a deal breaker for me, especially when he had zero accountability and no apology,” she explained.

Cavallari said that if she were in her father’s position, she would have fought to make things right.

“If I had a kid and I really f***** up with my kid and they wanted to cut me out of their life, I would do everything imaginable to not let that happen,” she said, adding that her dad’s reaction was the opposite.

“My dad in a lot of ways was like, ‘OK.’”

She has previously described her father as a narcissist, and now says the decision to walk away was necessary for her and her children.
